SUBCISION
What is Subcision?
Subcision is a minor surgical procedure used for treating depressed cutaneous scars, such as those caused by acne. A special hypodermic needle or blunt ended cannula is inserted in the skin and used to break the bands that are tethering the scar to the underlying tissue. The release of the fibrotic bands as well as new collagen formation caused by the wound healing, leads to lifting and improvement of the scar.
