ACNE SCARRING TREATMENTS
Other Treatments for Acne Scarring
Unfortunately, acne very often leads to scarring (changes in the structure of the skin) and or/ changes in colour - red or pigmented depending on your innate skin tone. Scarring can be hypertrophic (eg keloids - where skin overgrows) or atrophic (where there is shrinkage or pulling inward) eg ice-pick, box-car or rolling in type (see photos).
It is important to know that scars are permanent and while we can improve their appearance, we can never get rid of them totally. However, there are a number of techniques we can employ to reduce the appearance of acne scars. I use combinations of the following techniques- topical treatments and peels, subcision (with or without polynucleotide injection), TCA cross, radio-frequency microneedling and CO2 laser resurfacing
